It is estimated that over 1 billion people are learning English worldwide, with this number set to grow to 1.9bn by 2020. China alone will contribute over 350mln students, and is growing at a compounded rate of ~18% YoY. Language Confidence provides a cost effective end-to-end solution to the learning of language, by providing cutting edge audio and visual technology to conduct world-class spoken English lessons.

Language Confidence software uses the latest artificial intelligence technology to monitor students’ progress through the use of speech recognition, correction and suggestive pronunciation. Progress is personalized to the individual student, with content structured to their individual needs.

We have brought together a leading team of experts from the fields of Education, Software Development, and Research Science to provide a scalable, cost effective, digital solution compared to the high cost of a human tutor.

I'm a serial entrepreneur since the age of 17. I had my first successful exit at 21 y/o and I have numerous Australian and International awards to my name.

ASOBP was a hospitality business where we registered players via our website and then hosted events in venues in off-peak times. I started and sold this business in 8 months, whilst studying full time, generating a 250% ROI. I also completed internships in education, events, marketing, sales and operations in Brisbane, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Sydney.

Funetics was an app that allowed students to engage with stories to see and hear the sounds of English. We combined animated videos with audio to increase engagement. We raised funding and generated in excess of 50,000 downloads before we shut the business down.

I was living in China at this time and received my TESOL qualification and started teaching English - this is where Language Confidence started; I noted that my students were only receiving quality feedback on their spoken English in the classroom and nowhere else.

To start, I procured a list of researchers with a very specific skill set around the world, and I cold-called hundreds of them. I ended up contacting PhD students at MIT to advise on the first version of what is now LCAT. We raised $500k in funding to start and have since now made 20,000,000 API calls in production.

I see the future as AI-driven, SaaS (AIaaS) products, where Language Confidence offers a suite of AI-powered APIs to enhance their learning experience.

I have a vision for digital tutors as a direct-to-consumer product, but I don't think the market is ready for this yet.
