I love investing in, co founding companies with, and hanging out with other founders (especially in Web3).

There is nothing harder/lonelier than being a founder and I am energized by others going through same journey.

I started out as a pro athlete getting drafted by the NHL's New York Rangers in 2005. A few years later, my career officially ended after a car accident. I was hit by a fully-loaded transport truck, sent to the ICU and diagnosed with a 'catastrophic' brain injury (Glasgow Coma Scale of under 9, I was a 7) that left me with a permanent disability.

But I decided to keep on trucking and started to recover well.

With Hockey now over I knew I needed a new purpose in life and at the perfect time I discovered entrepreneurship (while watching a YC video on Youtube while still in the hospital)

My first start up, eProf.com, failed.

My 2nd was an unnamed VR project that I founded after trying on the Oculus Rift DK1 in 2014. The product was VR renderings of pre construction condos. We eventually helped sell a penthouse despite the product being suboptimal. After 11 months, I accepted an offer to sell to a Canadian private equity fund as a 'tuck in' acquisition for one of their portfolio companies.

I spent the next 12 years building start ups with a focus on Web 3.

I bought my first Bitcoin in 2012 and being from Toronto I was lucky to have a front row seat to the building of Ethereum. I also helped advise on the first public blockchain company: Hive.

In 2017, I co founded Polymath, one of the first security token projects in Web3. Polymath is now venture backed (75mm total raised), 8 figs revenue, peak token market cap $1bn/top 40 token. I am proud of Polymath and what our community continues to build - especially our new layer-one RWA blockchain: Polymesh that is one of the best performing networks of 2024.

Since hiring a CEO at Polymath I've cofounded and incubated Tokens.com (30mm raised, public offering in 2021)

Most recently I co founded Sapien: a data marketplace that helps long tail AI models close the performance gap with big tech via a mobile data labeling game.

I also like to angel invest mostly in my friends (Ethereum ICO, BlockOne, Hive, Eigen Layer, Alongside, Ritual, EtherFi, SEI +60 and LP in funds like Polychain + 7)

When not in Asana or ruthlessly 'following up' old school style (email), I train BJJ and am a proud sponsor of causes close to me like The Africa Inland Mission, Brynn Children Home and mentor other brian injury survivors.
