I'd like to understand how intelligence works in the brain and develop AI systems to help humans scale.

I've typed a lot of keys and worn different shoes throughout my life. Most recently I created PyTorch Lightning, a framework to build AI systems based on PyTorch.

I built it while doing my PhD in AI at NYU and Facebook AI research under the guidance of my amazing advisors (Kyunghyun Cho, Yann LeCun). My PhD is funded by the NSF and Google Deepmind.

Aside from research, I enjoy building companies to make an actual change in society. The last company I co-founded (acquired by Commonbond) helped over 120k high school students access over $40 worth of financial aid.

But my passion for helping people started when I joined the US Navy to train as a Navy SEAL (BUD/S class 272, 277). Unfortunately, injuries kept me from completing training and that's when I discovered my passion for Mathematics and Computer Science.
