Agarwal is the founder and executive director of Imbed Biosciences Inc, a regenerative-medicine company developing advanced therapies for complex wounds. He has led Imbed since 2010 to build research, regulatory, quality, manufacturing, and commercial teams, raising Series A and Series B equity financings and winning >$10M in federal research grants.

Agarwal’s invention of next-generation wound matrix has been used to heal complex wounds in hundreds of thousands of patients in U.S. It is based on a polyelectrolyte multilayer film technology he invented at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Agarwal is author of more than two dozen original research publications in scientific journals, producing more than a dozen patent applications. His breakthrough research on drug delivery, gene therapy, and tissue engineering has attracted strong international attention within the scientific and biotech community and has impacted the development of new medical devices and therapies in hospitals.

Agarwal is one of the celebrated postdoc entrepreneurial fellows of the Kauffman Foundation in the U.S. for building scalable venture-backed biotech companies. He received BS and MS in Biochemical Engineering and Biotechnology from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, and a PhD in Chemical Engineering from Iowa State University.
