I'm still trying to figure it all out but I've learned some important things. Family and relationships with loved ones first. I absolutely LOVE building software businesses. I was too impatient to rely completely on a technical co-founder so I taught myself how to code 10 years ago. I believe the best software CEOs have deep technical understanding. It's magical to see code you wrote actually solve a problem for a human. Love Shakespeare and old period romance. Dream someday of writing a sci-fi or fantasy story. Feel connected to the world through soccer--been passionate about it since I was a kid. Really admire and look up to leaders who have missions to give back--like Davis Smith at Cotopaxi. Trying to figure that out in my life without it being fake. Lately I feel like the best way I can give back (outside my amazing wife and 5 amazing kiddos) is to build a great company (Spiff) and invest in other entrepreneurs. Big believer in fighting group think, the Socratic method, and the power of humility. One of the biggest things I’m proud of is sharing larger than normal equity stakes with those bold enough to build businesses with me.
