Matt Golden United States - Sausalito, California

Matt Golden is an entrepreneur and policy advocate, committed to bringing energy efficiency in the built environment to scale as a demand-side resource. Matt has consulted on energy, technology, and finance for the EPA, DOE, CEC, and PG&E, as well as a range of private companies.

Matt is currently CEO of Recurve (formerly Open Energy Efficiency) which connects the dots between efficiency, electrification, renewable energy, and DERs to enable demand flexibility to become a market-based procurable resource. Recurve is the developer of the open-source OpenEEMeter and the CalTRACK Methods, now part of the Linux Foundation.

Matt leads Environmental Defense Fund’s Investor Confidence Project implementing a system in the US and Europe to certify Investor Ready Energy Efficiency™ projects in order to reduce transaction costs and develop actuarial data to unlock capital markets (www.eeperformance.org).

Previously, Matt helped create the leading tablet based energy auditing software for the home performance industry built off experience auditing and retrofitting thousands of California homes. Recurve was acquired by Tendril Networks in 2011.

Matt is a national leader in the energy efficiency industry and was instrumental in forming Efficiency First, has served on a number of national and state nonprofit boards, including the Building Performance Institute, National Home Performance Council, ACI, CBPCA, and Build It Green.

Matt has testified before Congress, spoke at COP21, and has been featured in numerous articles and publications, including an appearance on the Ellen DeGeneres show.

Matt holds a bachelor’s degree in foreign relations from Georgetown University and is a recovering licensed California contractor.
