Our patented novel Ensilication technology uses silica to create an individually tailored protective nanoshell around vaccines, antibodies and enzymes to prevent degradation, which can lead to spoilage.

Once applied, the material can be stored and transported without the need for cold chain infrastructure, improving global access to medicines and reducing wastage and emissions across the pharmaceutical supply chain.

Ensilication preserves the integrity of a wide variety of biomolecules and proteins, not only protecting against environmental degradation, but also making possible the development of more convenient administration such as subcutaneous and oral delivery for both humans and animals.

We are actively looking for partners to work with us in developing ensilicated products, free from cold chain dependence. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you’re interested in finding out more about us, and how our technology may benefit your products.

I currently wear several hats. I am a Reader in Chemistry (Associate Professor) at the University of Bath, I am CEO and co-founder of EnsiliTech Ltd, I am an Ambassador for the "Girls in Science" Program for UNICEF, I am a Royal Academy of Engineering Enterprise Fellow. EnsiliTech is working on making room-temperature stable vaccines for easier transport and storage, so that everyone will have access to vaccines across the globe.

In short, I am a scientist working on the following questions:
- how can we make bio-pharmaceuticals stable for transport without refrigeration;
- how can transport and store vaccines to remote countries without wastage;
- how can we make administration of vaccines easier for patients;
- how ensilication can help us in vaccine, antibody, peptide, protein, enzyme preservation and stabilization;
- what are the connections between structure - flexibility - properties in zeolites;
- what the host guest interactions between the zeolite host and removable templates during the synthesis;
- which parameters determine what zeolite crystallizes during the synthesis;
- all aspects of geometry and flexibility of framework materials.

Other questions which are close to my heart are:
- engaging children (especially young girls) with easily accessible (not dumbed down) science experiments to ignite their passion for science;
- making sure that every young person has equal access to science no matter what their skin color, ethnicity, nationality, place of birth, gender, sex orientation, accent, look, and beliefs are;
- making the scientific community into a more diverse, welcoming, thriving environment for all to succeed.
