Hi! My name is Jake. I'm from Manhattan, Kansas a.k.a. the "Little Apple."

My family has owned The Mercury, Manhattan's local newspaper, for the past five generations. During that time, we've expanded throughout the American Midwest and championed advocacy efforts for freedom of the press in the Western Hemisphere.

I became a technologist because I wanted to build on my family's business in the 21st century.

I dropped out of Harvard to help start Quorum Analytics, a public affairs software platform that grew explosively and is now used by thousands of public affairs professionals around the world.

I've since finished my degree in Computer Science & Journalism, worked briefly for Google, and started a second company, Column, which is building technology to improve the utility of public interest information, beginning with public notice.

It's a bold, generational mission. We are initially hyper-focused on the public notice process and the ecosystem of media companies, governments, law firms, banks, courts, businesses, and more who work together to create informed communities.

I hope my great-great-grandfather would approve!
