David joined Greylock Partners in January, 2000. He focuses on Consumer Internet/Mobile, Social Networking, Media Convergence, Marketplaces, and Games.

David was ranked #16 on the 2014 Forbes Midas List, #10 on the 2013 Forbes Midas List, #4 on the 2012 Forbes Midas List, and #9 on the 2011 Forbes Midas List.

David's portfolio companies have included: Facebook (NASDAQ: FB), LinkedIn (NYSE: LNKD, subsequently acquired by Microsoft), and Pandora (NYSE: P, subsequently acquired by SirriusXM). He was also on the boards of Vessel (acquired by Verizon), VUDU (acquired by Walmart and subsequently NBCUniversal), PullString (acquired by Apple), WhoSay (acquired by Viacom), Revision3 (acquired by Discovery Communications), Oodle (acquired by QVC), SGN (acquired by MindJolt), and New Edge Networks (acquired by EarthLink). He presently sits on the boards of Discord, Nextdoor, and Caavo, and is an observer on the board of Roblox and Medium. David is a member of the Advisory Board of Northern Light, a leading, early-stage VC firm in China.

David is also a Trustee of Yale University, and Rockefeller University, a world-renowned center for research and graduate education in the biomedical sciences, chemistry, bioinformatics and physics.

He serves on the Advisory Boards of MLT.org, Questbridge, and The McLaren Racing Group.

Before coming to Greylock, David spent over seven years in product management and development at consumer internet, gaming, and media companies ranging in size from small startups through publically traded companies.

David was employee number 30 and the first consumer product marketing hire at Excite.com in early 1996. He held roles as GM of Excite.com and VP of Content and Programming for the Excite Network and eventually became SVP of Product Strategy at Excite and then Excite@Home until early 2000 when he joined Greylock.

Before Excite, David was in product marketing at Electronic Arts and in product development at Crystal Dynamics, a gaming start-up later acquired by Eidos Interactive. He started his career in management consulting with Marakon Associates and The Boston Consulting Group, and also spent time at HBO.

David holds a BA from Yale University and an MBA from Stanford University
