We are transforming the insurance industry through the power of decision intelligence.

Disconnected systems, unruly data, and outdated processes are undermining the ability of insurers to make their best decisions. We see a better way.

We combine first-hand actuarial experience and first-class engineering expertise with a passion for technology, to develop solutions that enable quicker, smarter decision making.

Teams are more agile, collaborate more deeply, and work more productively. They update their models more regularly, and have access to a broader array of tools than ever before.

Our progressive approach, effective integration and continued support ensure our software delivers from day one and continues to evolve to meet the needs of your future ambitions.

We work closely with our clients so they can embrace the digital revolution, enhance productivity and transform the performance of their organisation.

I am a Co-founder and the CEO of hyperexponential (hx), an analytical technology company pushing the boundaries of decision-making with the small, sparse and fragmented datasets that predominate in many parts of the financial sector, particularly specialty insurance pricing.

We do this principally through Renew, our next-generation SaaS platform where our clients are building, deploying and using cutting-edge pricing models faster and with a better user-experience than ever before. I am also actively engaged with the insurance community in tackling the broader challenges faced by the market as we look to develop better pricing solutions in an increasingly data-driven and technological world.

I'm a qualified actuary and computer science graduate, and have a broad range of experience across reserving and capital modelling, but my specialism is pricing – particularly the applications of modern techniques and technology to make practical, impactful pricing systems. Before setting up hx I worked for 12 years in the Lloyd’s and London Markets, where I set up and helped build several actuarial teams from scratch, in London and Canada.

My most recent industry experience was as the Head of Pricing and Analytics of Tokio Marine Kiln, one of the largest managing agents at Lloyd’s; I joined them as the first pricing actuary in their 50+ year history, and established a leading pricing and analytics function, made up of actuaries, data scientists and developers working together to service the whole business (around £1.5bn of GWP). Prior to that I worked at Catlin, in several roles, the highlight being when I was seconded to Toronto at the age of 25 to set up the Actuarial Function for Catlin’s Canadian operations (one of its six designated Underwriting Hubs across the globe) from the ground up.
