Dr. Robert Masson, M.D., is a private practice neurosurgeon serving a global community. He has dedicated his 36 year neurosurgical career to the development and innovation of minimally invasive spine surgery, implants, enabling technologies and outpatient spine surgery clinical pathways. Always innovating and pushing his limits, he is the founder and CEO of eXpanded eXistence™, a patented artificial intelligence enhanced software company backed by mixed reality and machine learning, focused on surgical logistics and performance.

He has developed and influenced spine implants, technology and procedures, focusing on least invasive surgery and maximum functional recovery. He has served on advisory boards for microsurgical systems, stem cell research, orthobiologics, sports injury treatment & prevention. He has developed, educated and influenced products for groups such as Sofamor Danek, Synthes, Depuy Synthes Spine, a Johnson and Johnson Company, Centinel Spine and Biedermann Motech.

Dr. Masson completed his medical and neurosurgical training at the University of Florida under Professor Dr. Albert Rhoton. His first practice was in Washington in 1995, and then he started his spinal neurosurgery practice in 1999 in Orlando, FL at both Adventhealth and Orlando Health. He founded Florida’s first JCAHO accredited NeuroSpine Center of Excellence at Orlando Health Health Central Hospital in West Orlando.

His surgical passion is lean performance, systems and teams for the best clinical outcomes. He has performed over 13,000 procedures and trained over 1500 surgeons worldwide.

Dr. Masson is the inventor of the iMAS 360™ lumbar TLIF reconstruction platform, and is committed to 100% microsurgical and minimally invasive solutions, and his practice is a global destination for cervical arthroplasty..

He has treated a broad variety of elite professional athletes, olympians, and warriors, recognizing the importance of spine surgery to highly functional people who have lost their functional capabilities in the midst of a spine health crisis. He is an expert on sports spine surgery.

He is a proud father of five and life long athlete. Since then he enjoys multiple sports including tennis, prototype racing and basketball. He was second in the 2019 Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona in the Le Mans Prototype Class with his son Kyle. He is committed to a lifetime of exploration and his hobbies include aviation, back country skiing, scuba diving, mountain climbing and snowboarding.
