J.D. Mullin United States - Eagle, Idaho,

After spending the summer relaxing and enjoying my family and the great outdoors, I'm excited to join Summit Partners as an Executive-in-Residence. I’m working alongside Summit’s technology team to identify a new opportunity in a growth-stage software business where I can make an impact.

I’ve spent the last seven years on an amazing journey with TSheets and Intuit: four years building TSheets as a member of the executive team leading Product and Engineering, and three years integrating the business after our sale to Intuit. For the last two years, I operated the integrated TSheets business as the leader of Intuit’s Time Tracking segment. At Intuit, a segment leader is a hybrid role responsible for product strategy and the overall business unit contribution; it’s easiest to think of it as a product-centric CEO of a specific business unit.

Over the course of the last seven years, our executive team led the growth of the business from less than $1M in ARR through the nine-figure milestone, from 20 employees to over 400, from 2k paying customers to over 100k paying customers, from 30k users to over 1.8M users, and from our series A funding led by Summit Partners to our eventual sale to Intuit in January of 2018.

On the product and engineering front, accomplishments included building the team from seven engineers to a 140-person product organization and from a single Kanban team to over 20 autonomous agile sprint teams consisting of software engineering, product management, data, research, design, usability and testing. We implemented a dual-track agile process customized for our market, technology and business and scaled that process using autonomous teams, OKRs, and continuous deployment with approximately 20 micro deployments to production each day. Finally, we built and executed our hiring strategy in an incredibly competitive market and turned "But it's just time tracking?" responses from initial candidates into some of the most sought-after tech jobs in Boise and beyond.

Outside of the numbers, I am an incredibly curious person and a constant learner. I love mindfulness and fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth.
