Tom is a seasoned manager with a passion for creating market-driven solutions to address pressing global food security, soils and climate challenges. With decades of experience in the fields of climatetech, low-impact real estate, renewable energy, and regenerative agriculture, Tom brings focus and energy to any business challenge.

Currently serving as the Innovation Manager at Standard Biocarbon Corporation, Tom is responsible for developing new products and markets for the Company's high-carbon biochar. More biochar in the ground means less carbon in the atmosphere.

Before focusing on climate solutions, Tom founded and served as CEO of Canopy Development, a pioneering low-impact resort and second-home development company backed by Revolution, Steve Case's venture group. He was also a founding principal at The Trust For Sustainable Development, which developed trailblazing New Urbanist residential and resort projects like Civano in Tucson AZ and Loreto Bay in Baja California Mexico.

Having suffered a catastrophic accident on 2008 resulting in complete paralysis below the T5 vertebra, Tom has pioneered technology solutions to improve the lives of paraplegics and others living with disabilities. As a co-founder of Icon Wheelchairs, he assisted in the design and commercial introduction of an innovative, fully adaptable manual wheelchair in 2011. Tom has served on the board of directors for numerous high profile NGOs and currently serves on the board of directors for Ocean Alliance, an international ocean research and conservation organization.

With an educational foundation in Developmental Economics at Hampshire College, and decades of experience in for and not-for-profit impact enterprises, Tom is committed harnessing the power of commerce to create a more just and livable planet.
