Dr Loretta Chen is hailed as “a force of nature”, “Rebel with a Twist” and “critical arts entrepreneur”. Voted one of Asia’s most inspiring and Top 100 Women of the Future, she was featured alongside Sir Ian MacKellen in Esquire and on covers of business magazines and other media platforms.

She was the first S’porean woman to receive a full PhD scholarship from School of Film & Theater at UCLA and National University of Singapore and was Artist in Residence at Univ of Toronto from 2010-2012. Academia aside, Loretta was Executive Creative Director for brands such as Samsung, LVMH, BNP Paribas, Nikon, World Wide Fund amongst others.

She is a frequent face in leadership conferences and was Int’l Consultant, Mentor and Specialty Trainer at DHI, the government investment arm of Bhutan. She received a royal commendation from the Kingdom for her efforts in rebuilding a 17th century heritage site.

A sought-after Master of Ceremony for C suites and ministerial round tables, Loretta hosted global forums such as the World Cities Summit and was the presenter of her own eponymous radio show on Lush 99.5.

She is author of three bestsellers in Asia including Woman on Top : The Art of Breaking Stereotypes & Smashing All The Rules, Driven By Purpose, Destined for Change; Madonnas & Mavericks:Power Women in Singapore where she interviewed the incumbent President , top CEOs and changemakers . Her fourth, Inspiring Women of Hawaii was released in 2019. She is now writing M/OTHER to be published by Straits Times Press.

Other notable achievements include initiating the Young Designers Scholarship at Raffles Design Institute; nomination as Arts NMP candidate in 2009 as well as her work as Ambassador to the S’pore Kindness Movement.

After her move to the US in 2016, she worked with Tesla before returning to her passion in higher education, advocacy and the arts.

Based in Hawaii, she teaches at Univ of Hawaii, Leeward Community College and is Visiting Professor at APU Ritsumeikan, Carnegie Mellon, Stanford University and University of Toronto.

She sits on board Hawaii Technology Academy & volunteers at the Mediation Center of the Pacific. She was inducted into Patsy Mink Center for Business Leadership in 2020 and is humbled by her work in correctional education, arts and advocacy with women, youth and LGBTQIA communities .

She co-founded Futureskills 101 partnered with MasterClass to provide education resources to the underserved and Smobler Studios , a pioneer in building brands & inclusive communities in the metaverse.

Loretta is a rescue mum to 18 fur babies.
