Dr. Fong is a plastic surgeon recognized for co-founding several groundbreaking medical device companies. His work has received funding in excess of 100 million dollars ($US). He is the inventor on 50+ issued and/or pending patents in the US and abroad. The technologies he has helped invent have been acquired by leading corporations and have been used in patients hundreds of thousands of times.

Over his career, Dr. Fong has held senior leadership positions in industry and worked with the FDA, CMS, Private Payers, CPT Editorial Panel, and government agencies around the world to bring new technologies to market. He has initiated and led pivotal clinical trials with leading investigators in the field of surgery in both the US and Europe.

Dr. Fong was trained in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Stanford University where he also served as Chief Resident and participated in the Stanford Biodesign Innovation Program. He is a past recipient of the prestigious Lyndon Peer Fellowship in research. He completed both his Bachelor’s of Science in Biology and Master’s Degree with Thesis in Psychology from Stanford University, where he graduated with Honors and Distinction. He has also served 3 years as a Consulting Assistant Professor at Stanford University School of Medicine in Plastic Surgery.

He is Board Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, member of the American Society of Plastic Surgery, member of the American Association for Hand Surgery, and serves as Chief of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and Vice-Chair of the Department of Surgery at San Mateo Medical Center located in Silicon Valley where he performs complex reconstructive surgery in an underserved population.

Currently, Dr. Fong serves as CEO and President of Savage Medical, a privately held medical device company focused on innovative solutions in general surgery.
