What is Pyx Health?

Pyx Health is leading the solution to loneliness and social isolation through technology and human connection. Research has found that loneliness increases mortality rates and annual patient treatment costs at similar rates to many chronic diseases. By combining compassionate technology with timely human interventions, Pyx Health offers patients and healthcare providers an innovative, scalable solution that effectively addresses this U.S. health epidemic. Pyx Health is helping people feel better while lowering costs for employers and healthcare providers.

Our Story

In 2016, Pyx Health CEO Cindy Jordan watched as a loved one’s physical and mental health declined rapidly from stable to high risk. While caring for them, Cindy learned about gaps in healthcare and the pervasive loneliness and social isolation epidemic affecting vulnerable populations. Frustrated by the lack of care, Cindy vowed to wage a war on loneliness and was determined to create an impactful solution marrying technology and compassionate human interventions; in 2017, the Pyx Health app was born. Today, while Cindy’s work is far from done, 93% of Pyx users report feeling healthier, and health plans have seen significant reductions in costs for Pyx patients.

I've been leading the health technology company, Pyx Health - a tech-enabled, human-powered solution for loneliness and social isolation - for the last 3 years, but like most entrepreneurs my career has been eclectic. Starting as a police officer right out of college, I learned what the true definition of a “bad day” is and applied this to running my own businesses. Nothing in a start-up can be as bad as working midnights in a suburb of Washington DC!

After 5 years, I transitioned to a career in political fundraising in DC, where I felt I could enact real change by supporting causes and issues I was passionate about. That skill of selling passion and getting folks to give money to that passion proved to be valuable later as an entrepreneur.
After moving to Tucson, Arizona in 2001, I worked as the Lead Strategist in a marketing agency. It was here where the idea for Medical Referral Source (MRS), a proprietary referral marketing tool for physicians, was born. Acquired by The Advisory Board Company in 2013, I exited as CEO and continued to work on growing MRS, now known as Crimson Medical Referrals, as managing director. While selling to hospitals by day, 10Fifty Safety was born. Drawing on my experience as a police officer, we recognized a real need for a serious solution to crime on college campuses and developed 10Fifty, a discreet, wearable, personal safety device for college students. In March 2016 10Fifty was acquired by Alert GPS.

Coming full circle back to healthcare, Pyx Health came to light in 2017. Motivated by a family member's struggle with a mental health crisis, I became aware of gaps in healthcare and the pervasive loneliness and social isolation epidemic affecting vulnerable populations. Pyx Health is the first loneliness and social isolation solution focused on helping the most vulnerable. By combining technology and compassionate human interventions, we offer patients, health insurers and at-risk organizations an innovative, scalable solution that effectively addresses this U.S. health epidemic.
