My friend and I co-founded Measurlabs, a marketplace for laboratory analyses and testing services, while working on our PhDs.

We had published certain material analyses in our research and those tests caught the attention of a few potential customers.

The customers asked if they could buy the same kind of tests from us that we had published, and we agreed to do the tests for these customers. When the volumes grew, we needed to figure out more scalable ways to provide testing services for our customers.

We jumped as full time entrepreneurs and started growing the company. We hired our first employees and were a team of six, a profitable company, buying and selling testing services.

Growth came easily; we barely marketed our services but still there were more customers than we could handle. We figured it might be a good idea to raise some funding and build a larger team and start investing in technologies that would make our operations more efficient.

That’s when we contacted a few investors and Lifeline Ventures invested in us on our pre-seed round. Since then we’ve raised from multiple investors and grown the team and the customer base to what it is now.

And we’re just getting started.
