Lingvist is committed to building the most efficient language learning tool for on the go learners. We believe in possibilities enabled by communication. We make a powerful, unique tool widely available, so that more people have the capacity to express and understand each other.

The Lingvist prototype was created at CERN by one of our co-founders, employing the machine-learning algorithms that were used to discover the Higgs boson. The leader of Skype’s core technology team then joined as a co-founder and CTO to scale the product.

We are an alumnus of TechStars London and have raised seed capital from Skype founder Jaan Tallinn, TechStars, Smartcap, and Inventure. We have also secured an additional €1.6m of EU funding under the Horizon 2020 scheme and raised $8 million in Series A funding led by Rakuten.

Mait Müntel is an entrepreneur with a background in nuclear physics. After being part of the discovery team of Higgs boson in 2013 he co-founded a company Lingvist to help people learn 10 times more efficiently using the same algorithms from particle physics.
