Laura Keily (BSc, LLB (Hons), MCommrclLaw, GDipDisRes, GAICD, FCIArb, PRI) is a partner of Banton Group (Syd/Melb).

Laura is located in Melbourne but splits her time with the United States. She is a seasoned Founder, CEO and technologist.

She was the Founder of Immediation, a ground-breaking online dispute resolution platform. She started the business in 2017 and as CEO grew it to a global team of 50 and raising $25M.

Laura has a decade of experience as a commercial barrister and an additional 15 years as a M&A attorney. She is both a litigator and corporations and securities law specialist advocate, with the depth of technical expertise to advise on taxation; banking; insurance; reinsurance; construction; competition and consumer law. Laura focuses on resolving and, if necessary, conducting complex commercial litigation.

Laura’s 25 years commercial experience combined with her subject matter expertise places her in a unique position to influence the resolution of commercial disputes, particularly high-value or high-risk corporate disputes with a complex commercial history, regulatory context, or difficult legal or technical overlay.

Laura has more than a decade of experience as a top tier corporate lawyer advising boards and executives at the coalface. Accordingly, she has an extremely detailed working knowledge of law such as Corporations Act, ASX Listing Rules, M&A, directors’ duties, shareholder remedies and meetings, contract, equity, trusts, corporate finance and insolvency.

Laura holds three first class degrees: Masters of Commercial Law, Bachelor of Laws (Hons), and Bachelor of Science. She recently completed a Graduate Diploma in Dispute Resolution and qualified as an international arbitrator with the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, and is a Member of the AICD.

Laura was awarded Lawyers’ Weekly Innovator of the year in 2021, Australasian Lawyer, Most Influential Lawyer of 2021 - Changemaker; and the Womens' Barristers' Association Innovator Award in 2020 for her work pioneering online mediation. Laura was a finalist in the Women in Law Awards in 2019 for Innovator of the Year, in 2016 and 2017 for Barrister of the Year, and in the Women’s Agenda Leadership Awards in 2016.
