A mathematician/data scientist, Aaron has always been highly focused on the value of data over intuition to address the most challenging problems and opportunities. As a college student, he saw first-hand how students can easily fall through the cracks – but more importantly how students can stay on track to graduation. Determined to figure out a way for every student to succeed, no matter what obstacles they face, Aaron founded Degree Analytics.
Aaron Benz, CEO and Founder of Degree Analytics, specializes in large-scale data analytics. He holds a patent for location-based monitoring systems and has steered Degree Analytics towards pioneering IoT data applications in higher education. His contributions in peer-reviewed published research as an associate at the Broad Institute demonstrate his proficiency in big data analytics. Aaron's expertise is pivotal in revolutionizing educational spaces with data-driven strategies.
A pure mathematician by training, Aaron received Academic-All America and All America awards as a lacrosse goalie at Eastern University. He was then a Sr. Data Scientist at Accenture where he built and executed big data analytics applications primarily across health, call center, and big oil enterprises. He has been a speaker at several conferences including Strata-Hadoop World and the Global Big Data Conference.
Other than the dataverse, Aaron is still actively involved in the lacrosse community as a goalie coach.
