At Beta Bugs we believe that for the insect industry to reach its full potential, it will need to specialize and horizontally segment. Specialization means focus, which means more progress. Beta Bugs, and genetics, forms part of this supply chain, supplying the biological software that runs in farming hardware. If this has piqued your interest, then get in touch.

CEO and Founder at Beta Bugs, the insect genetics company, which I founded after spotting the opportunity for improved genetics in the rapidly developing insect farming industry.

About me: Early stage innovation leader, having secured and managed £1.7M in funds from the EU’s EIC Accelerator, InnovateUK and Scottish Enterprise to deploy the infrastructure, human resource and expertise required to establish an industry-first nucleus population and selective breeding programme for Black SoldierFly adjacent to The Roslin Institute, Beta Bugs’ collaborative partner.

Experience in developing and managing innovation, working with public, private and academic stakeholders, raising funds, and leading a growing team.

Enjoy working at the cutting edge and am happy to share my experiences with, and learn from, fellow entrepreneurs and those wanting to take the plunge.

When not building things, am busy building sand castles on beaches, exploring the Scottish outdoors, fermenting foodstuffs, riding bikes, reading science fiction and painting tiny rat-men and space vampires (amongst other things).
