What keeps me moving?
In my personal life? Deconstructing my personality flaws so I become a better husband and father. I think the first step was purging the following: What flaws?
In my spare time? Reading books that challenge the current social and economic order by imagining how society evolved in some future time, after some really awkward event, or when it simply doesn't exist anymore. This is what Science Fiction does when it's at its best. Please don't watch World War Z the movie - read the book (Note: that is the only zombie book I have ever - and will ever - read).
In my head? Wrestling with what I call the "Idea Gap". That space between extreme points of view where good ideas - the ones that actually affect the change - fall and become useless. It's always been there, but in an increasingly polarized world it's wider than ever. This is true locally, globally, and in your office! Global warming? What a surprise: both extremes are wrong. Who's going to fill the idea gap?
In my office? Truly passionate about how design software can help people change the world. I feel blessed to work for a company that is successful, technologically challenging, and does something people understand adds real value to the world. Everyday I work to help the company progress through internal and external disruptions so it can keep doing what it does so well for decades more. What a blast.
