OneThird, an IT Services and IT Consulting company based in the Netherlands – Enschede, Overijssel, announces the successful completion of its seed funding round with a raise of $3,000,000 from Pymwymic.

Founded by Marco Snikkers, OneThird is on a mission to change the fact that one-third of all food is wasted before it even reaches consumers. Their solution enables retailers to scan produce at distribution centers and stores to accurately predict days until spoilage. This helps them improve inventory management and sell produce at the right time while minimizing food waste. Additionally, their software platform provides buyers with objective data to better assess quality and optimize supplier agreements during seasonality. 

The artificial intelligence powering OneThird’s technology ‘looks’ inside fruit and vegetables using optical sensors attached to a smartphone. It then analyzes key parameters like sugar levels, water content and other taste factors to provide accurate predictions of days until spoilage in real time.
