Field Materials, a software firm based in San Jose, California, announced on April 6 that it had raised $4.65 million in a seed funding round, according to a press release shared with Founder Lodge. Blumberg Capital led the round, which was joined by Zacua Ventures.
The startup's product is an AI-driven program that will help contractors with material procurement and can assist professionals throughout the entire construction process. According to the company, it performs tasks that were previously performed in Excel, Word, and on paper. It also employs AI-powered checking systems to monitor delivery slips and invoices in order to detect errors and reduce delays.
Field Materials is not the first AI-focused startup founded by Eldar Sadikov and Victor Gane. Both were the owners of Jetlore, an AI-based predictive marketing firm that PayPal purchased in 2018. The company concentrated its marketing efforts in the retail industry. The construction industry is at a tipping point in terms of AI adoption. The technology has sparked widespread interest and appeal, and other companies such as Togal.AI have jumped on board, attracting millions of dollars in funding.
