ClearFlame Engine Technologies has raised $30 million in Series B funding to bring to market innovative solutions that power heavy-duty engines with clean, renewable fuels, as well as to create a viable business solution to reduce carbon and soot emissions.
Mercuria Energy Group, one of the world's largest privately held energy and commodities companies, led the latest investments, with participation from WIND Ventures and Rio Tinto.
ClearFlame Engines is a Chicago-based startup. The ClearFlame technology enables heavy-duty engine manufacturers to produce engines at a lower cost while providing their customers with higher performance and fuel cost savings.
"ClearFlame continues to gain traction with technology that heavy-duty equipment users can deploy to meet critical ESG goals more quickly and affordably. We went from concept to patent thanks to funding from the U.S. Department of Energy. The Series B funding propelled us from patent to pilot. This latest round of funding will help us move from pilot to proven product in a variety of markets, beginning with long-haul trucks." —BJ Johnson, ClearFlame CEO, and co-founder.
