March 10, 2023
Portal Labs, a mobile wallet infrastructure startup, has raised $5.3 million in an unknown funding round led by Slow Ventures and Haun Ventures, the venture capital firm founded by Andreessen Horowitz alum Kaite Haun. The funding round comes amid a particularly harsh crypto winter landscape, which has taken its toll on venture capital and other investments in the industry.
Portal Labs is a San Francisco-based startup that provides wallet infrastructure as well as a decentralized application (dapp) store which allows projects to become Web3-enabled apps. The Portal developer kit enables Portal partners to connect to protocols and dapps directly or via a mobile or desktop browser.
CEO Raj Parekh, who previously led Visa's global crypto product division, co-founded Portal. The other founders have diverse security engineering backgrounds, including Chief Technology Officer David Scrobonia, who previously worked at Web2 consumer data platform Segment, Brex alum Parsa Attari, and Rami Shahtit, who previously worked at fintech Blend.
